As CR’s new intern, I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of this little (but fantastic) corner of the Internet. I feel that publications such as the cosmopolitan review and programs like Poland in the Rockies are an integral part of Polonia in North America. Personally, PitR (Poland in the Rockies) and CR have allowed me to become more involved in a community that is sometimes impenetrable to those who do not fluently speak Polish. This doesn’t just extend to second generation Americans like myself, whose parents never learned Polish because their families wanted to assimilate during the ultra-American 1950s. The utility of such organizations also extends to people who aren’t Polish, to people who have caught the Polish bug, who are simply interested in Polish culture, history and affairs. As an intern with CR and PitR, I hope to make Poland and Polonia more accessible to these people, and to other young Polish-Americans and Canadians who have had experiences similar to mine. I continue to believe in the importance of English-language media regarding Polish affairs, and I am excited to be involved with CR on a more active basis. CR
