the cosmopolitan review received the following words of welcome from Dr. Thaddeus Gromada, President and Executive Director of the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences in America:

Please accept my congratulations and best wishes on the appearance of  "the cosmopolitan review ".  It is indeed an impressive and ambitious project which I hope will endure and be a great success.  The Polish Institute will be glad to promote your publication and hopefully you will do the same for our academic quarterly journal "The Polish Review".  We applaud this initiative and urge you consider collaboration with PIASA.  You and your young colleagues will determine the future of Polish studies and culture in North America, so we invite you to become involved in our activities, in particular the 67th Annual Meeting (a multi-disciplinary conference on Polish studies) scheduled for June 13-14, 2009 at Hyatt Regency Jersey City/on the Hudson. Perhaps you will want to become PIASA members.

Warmest best wishes for the New Year 2009.

Thank you, Dr. Gromada. Both CR and the organizers of Poland in the Rockies heartily recommend PIASA membership to all our friends and readers, and attendance at a PIASA conference is a treat for anyone interested in things Polish.

THE POLISH INSTITUTE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES OF AMERICA
208  East 30th Street, New York, NY 10016
The Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences of America (PIASA) is a tax exempt not for profit academic organization supported exclusively by its members, friends and the public. Founded in 1942, it has become a leading center of learning and source of information about Poland's history and culture in the United States. It is also a research center with a reference library and rich archives and is a disseminator of knowledge about the Polish-American ethnic group and its role in America.
The Institute's mission is to objectively inform American society about Poland and its millennial cultural heritage. The Institute encourages intellectual and cultural cooperation between the United States and Poland, two nations whose friendship dates back to the Revolutionary War.
A high priority for The Polish Institute has always been the publication of a scholarly journal in the English language. THE POLISH REVIEW, a multidisciplinary journal devoted to Polish topics, has been published without interruption since 1956.
PIASA’s 67th Annual Meeting will be held on June 13-14, 2009 in Jersey City, NJ. This multidisciplinary conference on Polish, East Central European and Polish American Studies attracts over one hundred scholars who will make presentations on topics that include history, political science, literature, economics, music and other fields.  Attendance is not restricted to members; PIASA welcomes all persons interested in the academic and cultural issues dealing with Poland and Polish Americans.
